NDC youth ransack Forestry Commission office in Sunyani

A group of youth, believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reportedly ransacked the Bono Regional Forestry Commission offices on Monday, December 9. Armed with machetes, the group forcefully seized two patrol vehicles belonging to the regional office, which also houses the Sunyani Forest Services Division (FSD).

The intruders also made away with confiscated chainsaw machines, motorbikes, and other items stored on the premises, causing significant disruption and property loss.

This incident occurred despite calls by President-elect John Dramani Mahama for NDC supporters to refrain from vandalizing state property. In his acceptance speech on December 9, Mahama urged party supporters to channel their energy into positive and constructive efforts to rebuild the nation.

However, similar incidents of vandalism have been reported elsewhere. At the Forestry Commission depot in Achimota, Accra, unidentified individuals ransacked the premises, stealing several valuable items, including 24 air conditioners, laptops, and other essential equipment.

In addition to this, the intruders attempted to seize the keys to newly acquired vehicles but were unsuccessful in doing so.

Though the police responded to the issue, they could not do much to prevent the youth from the destruction they caused in the Sunyani Forest Services Division
