Madina Redco Shooting Suspect Granted GH¢100,000 Bail

The man accused of firing indiscriminately during a fire outbreak at Madina Redco on August 3 has been granted bail.

Mustapha Iddrisu Danlad was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, all of whom must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. One surety is required to justify the bail with a land title deed worth not less than GH¢50,000.

The court further directed Danlad to report to the Madina Police every Wednesday, while the prosecution has until October 23, 2025, to file disclosures. The case has been adjourned to October 24, 2025.

Danlad was granted bail after police verified his residence at Redco Flats in Accra.

According to the prosecution, six people sustained pellet wounds after Danlad allegedly fired a pump-action gun into a crowd during the fire incident. He faces charges of discharging firearms without authority, possession of firearms without authority, and three counts of causing harm.

The accused, who claims to be a Task Force Officer with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), pleaded not guilty.

Chief Inspector Daniel Danku told the court that during the fire outbreak, a misunderstanding broke out between Danlad and a group of people. After leaving the scene, Danlad allegedly returned with a pump-action gun and opened fire, forcing bystanders to flee. Six victims were rushed to hospital; some were treated and discharged while others were referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Danlad allegedly went into hiding after the incident but was arrested at Madina Redco on September 12 at dawn. In his caution statement, he admitted to the offence.
