Ghana’s cocoa arrivals jumped to 50,440 tons in the four weeks to Sept. 4, more than four times last year’s 11,000 tons, after the country opened its harvest season two months early to give farmers quicker cash.
The world’s No. 2 producer raised its farmgate price by 4.2% to 3,228.75 cedis ($261) per 64-kg bag for the 2025–26 season, aiming to curb smuggling and boost supply. Ghana is forecasting 650,000 tons this season, up from 600,000 tons last year.
The surge adds to global supply and has eased prices, though markets remain tight after years of poor harvests. Neighboring Ivory Coast is expected to announce higher farmer prices from Oct. 1.
