GH₵5 million defamation: Martha Ankomah turns down Lil Win’s apology

Actress Martha Ankomah dismisses Lil Win’s apology in a GH₵5 million defamation case, citing inadequate retraction. Court adjourns to February 2025.

Actress Martha Ankomah has brushed off Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah popularly known as Lil Win‘s public apology for his actions against her in the GH₵5 million defamation suit she filed against him at the High Court in Accra.

According to a court report by, Murtala Inusah, the actress felt it was not enough and said the apology missed the proper ingredients of its genre; that of retraction and apology.

The case, which was filed by Ankomah on February 14, 2024, involves a claim for damages following alleged defamatory comments made by Lil Win in a viral video.

The actress is demanding GH₵5 million in damages, as well as a formal apology and retraction with the same prominence as the alleged defamatory statements.

Attempts at settlement

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the High Court case was heard in-camera for nearly three hours. Both parties, along with their legal representatives, engaged in discussions aimed at amicably resolving the matter. The court has adjourned proceedings to February 25, 2025, to allow the parties time to finalize the terms of settlement.

It is anticipated that Lil Win may issue a new public apology that meets Ankomah’s expectations as part of the settlement process. Ankomah’s legal team insists that any resolution must include a retraction and apology that properly address the harm done to her reputation.
