Finance Minister Welcomes IMF Mission Team for Fifth Programme Review

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, today received the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission team, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan, to officially begin the Fifth Review of Ghana’s IMF-Supported Programme.

Dr. Forson outlined Ghana’s economic journey since the start of 2025, acknowledging that the country began the year with major challenges but has since made steady progress through firm measures and collective national effort.

He noted that while some risks still remain, government remains fully committed to addressing them decisively. The Fifth Review, he said, provides a key opportunity for Ghana to assess its progress under the programme and benefit from the IMF’s guidance.

For his part, Dr. Atoyan expressed the IMF team’s readiness to work with Ghanaian authorities during the review process in the coming days.

Also present at the meeting were the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama; the First Deputy Governor, Dr. Zakari Mumuni; the Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem; the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, Patrick Nomo; along with senior officials from both the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana.
