Ghana’s Black Starlets have secured a place in the final of the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations after a commanding 2-0 victory over rivals Nigeria in the semifinals.
Playing at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Prosper Ogum’s side struck twice in the first half to book their ticket to the final.
Michael Awuli opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing off a fine team move. Just 10 minutes later, Robinho Yao Gavi extended the lead with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, putting Ghana firmly in control.
Goalkeeper Solomon Kwame Kesse also proved decisive, pulling off key saves to deny Nigeria any chance of a comeback. The Starlets maintained their dominance after the break, holding on for a well-deserved win.
The victory sets up a final showdown against hosts Côte d’Ivoire on Friday, October 3. The two sides previously met in the group stage, where Ghana suffered a 0-3 defeat, setting the stage for a high-stakes rematch.
By reaching the final, the Black Starlets have also sealed qualification for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking their first appearance at the continental showpiece since 2017.
