The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its supporters to exercise restraint and avoid premature celebrations until the official results of the 2024 general elections are announced.
Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, NDC Communications Director Sammy Gyamfi emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and composed as the collation of results continues across the country.
“If you are listening to this address, on behalf of our leader and father, John Dramani Mahama, and the incoming president of Ghana, make your way to your constituency collation centre. If you were at the polling station at the time of declaration I am sure by now following the ballot boxes and other electoral materials to the EC collation centre.Tourism packages
“If you were not at the polling station, wherever you are in your constituency, this is the time to play your role. You have voted, your votes have been counted and declared at the polling station, and now you have the responsibility to protect those votes.
“So, this new stage of constituency collation is of utmost importance to all of us and our leader would want all of us to stop the jubilation until results are duly collated, and declared at the constituency centres.
“The results form at the collation centres duly filled and signed by the various party collation agents and our agent is given his or her copy. You don’t jubilate,” he stated.
He also called on party agents and representatives at the various collation centres to stay focused, monitor proceedings, and report any irregularities promptly to ensure transparency in the electoral process.
The NDC’s statement comes amid heightened anticipation as preliminary results trickle in from various polling stations nationwide.
“You only jubilate after the declarations of the results by the EC at the collation centre.”
