The Ashaiman District Court has remanded 54-year-old Kofi Boakye Frimpong for allegedly impersonating a police officer, contrary to Section 237 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Frimpong’s plea was not taken, as police continue investigations to confirm whether he is a dismissed officer.
Prosecutor Inspector Henry Nartey Tetteh told the court that on September 17, 2025, officers from the Zenu-Attadeka MTTD stopped Frimpong at the Zenu Star Fuel Station. He was dressed in a tactical black police uniform with a chief inspector’s badge.
The officers, suspicious of his identity, questioned him. During the exchange, Frimpong allegedly fled on a motorbike but was chased down and arrested.
Investigations revealed that he was a dismissed chief inspector who had relocated to Ashaiman but continued to pose as a police officer.
Frimpong has been charged and remains in custody while investigations continue.
