Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has made a thrilling return to the pitch after nearly a year out, describing the moment as both “crazy” and emotional.
The 25-year-old missed 250 days due to a serious ACL injury, sidelining him for 24 games with French Ligue 1 side Rennes and keeping him out of national duty.
Seidu’s comeback came in Rennes’ 4-0 defeat to Lorient. While the result stung, the defender says the real win was simply being back on the field.
“The moment I stepped on the pitch, I was so happy. The ACL was my biggest and longest injury. Coming back was crazy and weird at the same time, but I had been waiting for this day,” Seidu told Flashscore.com.
Since then, he’s hit the ground running—playing against Lyon and earning man-of-the-match honors against Nantes, contributing an assist and showing the intensity that once made him indispensable at Rennes.
Looking ahead, Seidu is focused on helping Rennes shine in Europe.
“My goal is to get as many minutes as possible and give everything so Rennes can qualify for Europe. I’m convinced we can achieve good things this season,” he said.
His return is also a boost for Ghana, as the Black Stars prepare for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
