Fuel Prices to See Marginal Increase from October 1

Consumers should brace for a slight rise in fuel prices at the pumps starting Wednesday, October 1, 2025, according to the latest outlook from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).

Projected Adjustments

  • Petrol: Up by as much as 2.47%, to about GH¢14.52 per litre.

  • Diesel: Expected to rise between 1.36% and 3.41%, reaching around GH¢15.17 per litre.

  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG): Likely to climb between 2.01% and 4.01%.

Drivers of the Increase

The price hike is being attributed to:

  • Rising international product prices.

  • Seasonal depreciation of the cedi, which fell from GH¢12.07 to GH¢12.40 per dollar in the review period—a 2.74% loss, bringing total third-quarter depreciation to 15.09%.

  • Limited forex supply and increased demand from year-end imports.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices recorded a modest uptick of 1.57%, moving from $67.39 to $68.45 per barrel, with Brent crude forecasted to rebound towards $70 per barrel due to heightened geopolitical risks and renewed supply concerns.

Market Reactions

Some oil marketing companies, including GOIL, Shell, and Market Star Oil, have already adjusted prices since September 23, 2025. Others may follow suit this week, depending on the continued pressure on the Ghana cedi.
