We won’t countenance cleanable indelible ink usage on Dec. 7 – NDC to EC

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Electoral Commission to address all outstanding concerns raised following the Special Voting Exercise.

The party expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of certain electoral officers and the alleged use of easily cleanable indelible ink during the exercise. It urged the Electoral Commission to resolve these issues before Election Day, Saturday, December 7.

The NDC is urging its members to remain vigilant and has called on security agencies to act decisively to ensure that the will of voters is safeguarded.

Addressing journalists in Kumasi on Thursday, November 5, 2024, the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Abbas Nurudeen, stated: “Our ears and eyes are on the ground, and we are monitoring every move of some officials of the EC and their collaborators. We call on all our teeming supporters in the Ashanti Region, sympathizers, and all those who yearn for change to come out in their numbers to vote massively for H.E. John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates.”

“During the special voting, we realised that some of the indelible ink used by the EC are easily cleanable. Using an indelible ink that is cleanable creates the necessary environment for multiple voting and impersonation. We raised this issue and the regional EC has given us a firm indication that all those cleanable indelible ink have been replaced. We sincerely hope whatever assurances he has given us are true On D-Day. We will not countenance the use of indelible ink that is cleanable,” he stressed.
